YUSUF ‘ALAYHIS SALAAM WAS SOLD.
According to Ibn Abbas, the travellers who captured Yusuf ‘alayhis salaam sold him for just 20 dirhams.
The selling was done quickly because they feared that his real master would catch him up and take him away.
So they didn't recognise the value of Yusuf ‘alayhis salaam and quickly sold him.
Yusuf ‘alayhis salaam was sold to a high ranking officer of Egypt who was a man of power and prestige and was given the title of AL-AZIZ.
Qur'aan mentions -
"And they sold him for a small price, for a few dirhams and they were of those who regarded him insignificant." (12:20)
[Ibn Kathir ki rivaayat ke mutabiq, qafile walo ne Yusuf ‘alayhis salaam ko sirf 20 dirham mei bech diya tha.
Unhone unko bechne mei jaldi isliye machayi kyuki unhe darr tha ke kahi uska asli maalik na aa jaye aur use pakadke na le jaye.
Isliye unhe Yusuf ‘alayhis salaam ki qeemat ka andaaza hi nahi hua.
Jis aadmi ko unhone Yusuf ‘alayhis salaam ko becha wo Misr ka ek shahi aadmi tha jo ek bade aude par tha.
Wo maaldaar aur izzatdaar shakhs tha aur use "AL-AZIZ" ke naam se khitaab kiya jata tha.]
