FOOD PRESENTED TO THE GUESTS!!
According to narrations of Ibn Kathir, when Ibrahim alayhis salaam presented the food to the guests, he saw that their hands were not coming towards the food even after insisting again and again.
Ibrahim ‘alayhis salaam asked them that will you not eat? And he started to eat before them to encourage them but still they did not eat.
At this point, Ibrahim ‘alayhis salaam started feeling afraid (in his heart) because he was sure that something was not right.
This was because, in their tradition, if the guests did not eat food then it was seen that they came with some evil intention.
Qur'aan mentions-
" And (he) placed it (the food) before them (saying): Will you not eat? Then he (Ibrahim) conceived a fear of them."
(51:27-28)
[Ibn Kathir ki rivaayato ke mutabiq, jab Ibrahim ‘alayhis salaam ne mehmano ke saamne khana pesh kiya to unhone dekha ke baar baar kehne ke bawajood unke hath khane ki taraf badh hi nahi rahe the.
Ibrahim ‘alayhis salaam ne unse kaha bhi ke kya aap nahi khayenge? Aur phir unhone khud khaana bhi shuru kardiya take mehmano ka hausla khule lekin phir bhi wo kuch nahi khaa rahe the.
Is waqt Ibrahim ‘alayhis salaam apne dil mei darr mehsoos karne lage aur unhe yaqeen ho gaya tha ke kuch na kuch galat zaroor hai.
Ye isliye kyuki unke yaha jab koi mehmaan kuch khata nahi to ye samjha jata tha ke wo kisi buri niyat ya iraade se aaya hai.
"Qur'aan mei iska zikr hai ke jab Ibrahim ‘alayhis salaam ne un mehmano ke saamne khana pesh kiya aur kaha ke aap khayenge nahi? To (unke na khaane ki wajah se) Ibrahim ‘alayhis salaam ke andar ek khauf aane laga."]
